Salvation Army Observes National Donut Day

By KMVT News

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) This year and every year, the first Friday of June is National Donut Day.

While you're enjoying one of the many donut giveaways, chew on this...

This holiday was actually created by the Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938.

This year, the Salvation Army celebrated by providing free donuts at Fred Meyer in Twin Falls.

"We’re making them fresh here to help our youth programs here in Twin Falls at the Salvation Army. Our summer day camp, our after school program, our teen night program, our VBS program. Just to help all of our youth programs help raise money for them to help keep costs down and everything else," explains Trae Becker, Youth Center Assistant.
