Hailey, Idaho (KMVT-TV) It's been three years since the Taliban captured Hailey native sergeant Bowe Bergdahl.

On June 30 2009, the 26–year old soldier was found missing from his duty station in eastern Afghanistan.

The military declared Bergdahl missing/captured three days later.

As you can see in the video, the residents of the wood river valley haven't forgotten about Bergdahl.

Yellow ribbons still appear throughout the community, lining trees, posts and street lights.

The liaison for the Bergdahl family shared with us over the phone about what the family is going through.

"Three years have now come and gone and as you can imagine, the frustration has built. They feel they can do everything they possibly can to help push things along to get their son home and that's what we in the military want too," adds Col. Tim Marsano, Idaho National Guard.

A Pentagon spokesman says that freeing Bergdahl is a constant focus for commanders in Afghanistan.

Otter released a statement on Thursday saying "it's a sad day for all Idahoans as we face the reality that one of our native sons is about to enter his fourth year in captivity."

Bergdahl is the only US service member known to be in Taliban captivity.
