Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A fundraiser started earlier this month at Oregon Trail Elementary School.
Students are collecting pennies for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Each student takes home a box to collect money. Then they can deposit the change into a larger bin in the classroom.
All money raised will benefit children in southern Idaho. This is third year of the fundraiser and on average, they've raised about $2,500.
"They like being able to participate in something that is bigger than them. They kind of like the competition with other classrooms. Some of them are really into the fact the classroom who brings in the most money gets a pizza party," says Iain Laird, a school counselor at Oregon Trail.
Students must turn in their change before Spring Break.
