Savor Southern Idaho Leaving Locals Happy And Full
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Food, wine and good company were all featured Thursday evening at Canyon Crest. Savor Southern Idaho is an annual event showcasing locally sourced products with wines from Idaho's wineries.
Everything from Chobani Yogurt to Howling Winds Yak, no one left Savor Southern Idaho with empty bellies.
According to Kari Rands, Local Event Coordinator, Chobani, "we have our four new Flips and Bites out tonight, just to give a little bit more flavor and get people introduced to some of our newer stuff."
This is the first year Chobani has been involved.
Even though the yogurt giant is known worldwide, the company is trying to maintain a local presence.
"We really support the community, we really support the chamber of commerce, what better way to come out and join the community and show our product made locally as well as the other foods and wine made locally," adds Rands.
Speaking of wine, Caldwell-based Vale Wine Company made the trip down to be a part of the excitement.
John Danielson, Owner of Vale Wine Company says, "we decided to get involved with Savor Southern Idaho because we believe in Idaho and the theme here being all local wineries and food, it's a good thing for tourism."
And does Idaho make great wine?
Danielson says yes.
"We're almost on the same parallel, if you follow the 45th parallel or 44th around, we're around the same area as France, the great wineries in France. We have beautiful hot summer days and cool nights. The plants get a chance to rest during the evening and get all fired up at night," adds Danielson.
Bringing together some of Idaho's best chefs and winemakers all under one roof.
Proceeds are re–invested in Twin Falls Chamber and Southern Idaho Tourism projects.
