Filer, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Thursday afternoon, Filer Elementary held its first science fair.

This school year, one teacher saw the need to start an after school science club for third graders.

There isn't enough time to teach science every day, so she started the club.

This year she had about thirty students, but she created the science fair to allow all of the third grade students to participate.

Sheena Kelsey shares with us why she took the initiative to start the program…

"It's been something that I did on my own, and I'm hoping that other teachers get involved and see that students love science, and we are kind of missing out on it lately, so I want it to be brought back any way possible.”

Mrs. Kelsey hopes to continue the new science club in the years to come.
