Senior Citizens Line Up For Flu Shots

By Jay Michaels

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) It's the time of year to get your flu shots, especially if you're a senior citizen.

Seniors were getting flu shots at the Twin Falls Senior Center. The pharmacist giving the shots says that seniors are the most "at risk" group to get the flu, and that it can be quite devastating for their older bodies to fight off.

Jeremy Hunter, Pharmacy Manager at Walgreens, says, "We really do recommend that they come and get their flu shots, especially early in the season, because it takes a couple weeks for the shot to take effect, and really see the immunity build up from that."

Hunter says when more people in a community get a flu shot, that translates to fewer cases of the flu actually happening. He says the sooner you get a shot, the sooner you'll have your immunity to fight off the disease.
