Gooding, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Over 100 4th grade students from Gooding Elementary spent the afternoon picking out gifts for a few needy kids from around their community.

Earlier this year the 4th graders spent a good deal of time putting together a special cook book with recipes hand selected by the children themselves.

Once the cook books were put together the children went around their neighborhoods and around the city selling them for 10 dollars a pop.

With the money the students raised, the kids were able to take part of the day off, load up into a bus, and make their way to Kings.

There the students split up and took their time picking out a few special gifts for some very needy children this holiday season.

"As you can tell by the kids in the store, they are really enthusiastic and they want to do this and be a part of it. Later on we will go back to the classroom, we'll wrap the gifts and we'll send them to Gooding Helping Hearts and Hands. Said Roman Scott, 4th grade teacher at Gooding Elementary.

"It’s exciting to be able to help out in the community just with a bunch of people. I guess it's exciting and makes me feel good." Said 4th grade student Logan Anderson.

The students raised around $2,500 from the fundraiser.

That money will go toward purchasing gifts for 20 children in need from the Gooding community.
