Shoshone Classrooms "Going Digital"

Tools

By Jay Michaels

Shoshone, Idaho (KMVT-TV) School districts all across the state and all over the nation are beginning to use new technologies in the classroom.

It's a challenge, especially for smaller schools. But more than 500 students in Shoshone, along with their teachers, are learning to make the transition.

Rob Waite, Superintendent at Shoshone Schools, says, "The students have the iPad in their hands during the entire class. So they're doing the work that would be done in the textbook is done on the iPad. It's a paperless classroom. I think all of education's going to move to this, and that's why we're moving in that direction."

Waite says the technology's here to stay. He says teachers in Shoshone are being trained to use tablet computers in the classroom. And right now students in Shoshone are using textbook materials online.
