Skateboarding Competition Held at Buhl Skate Park Saturday

Buhl, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A Buhl student channeled his passion for skateboarding into his senior project and a big competition Saturday.

A group of nearly 100 gathered at the Buhl Skate Park for the big event.

Over the course of nearly 6 months, Taylor Reali spent virtually all his spare time organizing the event.

He had to do most of the work himself including getting sponsors, insurance and approval from the School Administration.

Although having fun helped, Taylor's main goal was to shed light on skating in general.

Taylor says, "I want to put a positive message about the sport because over the years skaters have been labeled druggies and all these bad names and negative words, that I want to put it out there that because it's my passion I want to put a positive message out and just prove to everybody that it's not basically what it used to be."

Taylor insists all the hard work has been well worth it in the end.

Although the event was originally supposed to be just Saturday, he hopes to turn it into an annual event.
