Ketchum, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Sun Valley Resort now has snow, powder is falling on the mountain tops and snowmaking is fully underway.

The resort began making snow a week ago and hasn't stopped since.

Baldy and Dollar Mountain are piling up quick.

"The process of making snow starts actually in the summer with all the maintenance we do on the snowmaking system. Overhauling, putting energy efficient guns on, fixing things, it makes it easier for when we are ready to go when temperatures allow us in the fall” said Jack Sibbach, Sun Valley Resort.

575-snowmaking guns the resort has one of the world's largest computerized automatic snowmaking systems.

"The quality experience you get coming to Sun Valley for the Ski experience. Thanksgiving has become a traditional opening for us. A lot of families come back three, or four, or even five times” said Jack Sibbach, Sun Valley Resort.

A ski season that Mother Nature decides, and a resort the depends on the perfect temperature.
