Snake River Discoloration Likely An Algal Bloom

By KMVT News

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) The lab results are in, and it appears the discoloration in the Snake River, between the Perrine Bridge and Auger Falls, is likely an algal bloom.

That's according to reports from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.

The cause of the bloom may be attributed to a number of factors that work in combination with each other, including higher water temperatures, sunlight intensity, low flow conditions and excess nutrients.

A similar incident appears to have happened in the same spot between 1975 and 1977.
