(KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV) Snow will being to spread across the region Wednesday night and Thursday associated with a strong cold front that will push through Idaho. Snow amounts by Thursday morning could range from a coating to even two inches. Temperatures will be near 30 Thursday morning and fall through the day. This will cause area roads to be slick and also snow that has melted on roads to refreeze. Use caution if you have to travel out and about Thursday.
Along with the snow will be falling temperatures during the day. Morning temperatures will be in the 30s and fall to the mid 20s by the afternoon. Winds will also be strong and gusting to 30 to 40 mph. Blowing and drifting snow as well white out conditions. Although not a blizzard we could have bear blizzard conditions through out the afternoon.
For most of the Magic Valley a Winter Weather Advisory is in place for the day Thursday and into Thursday evening. For the Eastern Magic Valley and Mini-Cassia region the Winter Weather Advisory is extened into Friday morning.
Winter Storm Warnings are in place for Northern Blaine county including Sun Valley, Hailey and Belleview until Friday morning for snow amounts from 6 to 12 inches. Across most of the Valley snow amounts will range from 3 to 6 inches by Thursday evening with an additional 1 to 3 inches Thursday night into Friday. It is possible we see a total snow fall in the Valleys as low as 4 inches and as high as 9 inches.
Cold air follows this system for the weekend with high temperatures Saturday and Sunday only in the teens and lows back down to near zero and the sub zero range. It will be a cold couple of day heading into early next week.
