South Hills Lights Display Moving After This Year
South Hills, Idaho (KMVT-TV) - After 22 years, a local tradition will be changing.
Next year, the South Hills lights display moves to a new location.
Meaning if you want to see the more than 300,000 lights on display, you'll need to go in the next few weeks.
It's a sight that more than 100,000 people come to enjoy every year.
"We're looking at the lights. We went and got our tree and every year we do this after we get our Christmas tree,” said Krista Harris, Enjoying the lights.
Families like this one are what motivate Roy Wojcik to set up the massive lights display annually.
"Our son was born on Christmas. It started out a few lights. We moved here and had more area so we kept going on it. It's a fun festive thing to do and it is our gift to the Valley to say 'Merry Christmas,’” said Roy Wojcik, Sets up display.
It takes a crew of 10 people just over a month and a half to set up the entire lights display.
"The angel is my favorite part and the camel and the lights and the candy cane,” said Harlowe Bartlome, Likes it all.
"My favorite is the icicle snowmen because it looks like it's stealing the star,” said Kennedy Bartlome, Enjoying the lights.
"Bull the camel has his own Facebook page. He is the star of the show. Everyone loves him,” said Wojcik.
The Wojciks spend $2,000 to $3,000 to light up their home every year.
But to see children's smiling faces, they said, it's worth every penny.
This year's display is up until New Year's Eve.
It will move to the Rock Creek General Store next year.
