Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) August will go down as one of, if not the wettest month on record for many in the Magic Valley.

Twin Falls recorded over five and a half inches of rain for the month. Other locations like Jerome and Burley received between two to three inches of rain. Despite all this rain, southern Idaho remains in a severe to extreme drought conditions.

Troy Lindquist, Hydrologist Meteorologist from the National Weather Service explains, “This really wet month got us out of the meteorological drought, but if you look at the whole last year and even the past two years. We’ve really had dry conditions across the area. So we’re really still looking at overall long term drought conditions across the area.”

The Weather Authority Team expects drier weather conditions for the month of September.
