Southern Idaho Wildfire Update
Southern Idaho (KMVT-TV) We're nearing the end of fire season, but some fires in our area are still burning strong.
HALSTEAD FIRE The Halstead Fire, eighteen miles north of Stanley, increased by 4,500 acres Saturday because to strong winds. It has now destroyed over 167,000 acres since it started in late July and is fifty percent contained. Nearly 300 personnel are working on the fire. The estimated containment date is set for October 16th. MUSTANG COMPLEX New fire activity developed late Saturday on the Mustang Complex. The fire destroyed over two–hundred acres on the east side of Highway 93, one mile north of north fork. Investigators are trying to determine if this is a new start or a spot from the main fire. The complex has destroyed nearly 320,000 acres and is only eighteen percent contained. Over eight-hundred personnel are battling the flames. The estimated containment date is set for September 30th. TRINITY RIDGE FIRE Fire activity on the Trinity Ridge Fire is slowing down significantly. The fire has destroyed over 146,000 acres and is sixty–four percent contained.
