Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Drivers will need to keep their eyes open for two new speed zones on U.S. 30 between Murtaugh and Burley. The Idaho Transportation Department says that the changes will begin on Wednesday, November 6th.

The speed limit change at Murtaugh will take the limit down to 45 mph for about eight tenths of a mile, beginning close to the intersection with 4550 East Road and will extend east to near Dry Creek. The speed zone includes many residential access points, a convenience store, and a church.

The speed limit goes back to 55 mph near Dry Creek and will continue roughly three-quarters of a mile past the Twin Falls Main Canal. Starting at milepost 238.5, located west of 4700 East Road in Twin Falls County, the speed limit will be increased to 65 mph. That speed section will last for 13.5 miles, and it will end between the intersections of Pine Avenue and 500 West Road in Cassia County.

The 55 mph speed limit will stay the same from milepost 252 to west of Bedke Boulevard. The 45 mph speed zone will stretch about one-quarter mile west to include the Bedke Boulevard intersection.

The speed limit west of Murtaugh will stay at the current 55 mph limit to the city of Hansen.
