Spring Break: Free Swimming Lessons

By Joey Martin

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) All this week the Twin Falls YMCA is offering free swimming lessons for kids' ages 6 to 15 years old.

In honor of long-time YMCA member and avid swimmer, Doctor David Webster.

All this week swimming lessons at the city pool will be free of charge.

Doctor Webster passed away a few years ago leaving behind a sizable foundation to the YMCA.

In return, that foundation allows children in the community the opportunity to learn how to swim at no charge.

So in honor of his life and the foundation he left behind.

Each year the local YMCA and city pool offers this free swimming week during the week of Spring Break.

“Because of his foundation allowing us to have this memorial fund were able to sponsor free swimming lessons from 9AM until about 1 in the afternoon. We push through approximately 60 kids every 40 minutes. It’s really a great program, a lot of kids in the community can learn how to be safe around an aquatic environment.” Said YMCA Swimming Instructor Lindsey Hanchey

There are still 3 days of free swimming lessons left this week.

Again those times are from 9 in the morning until about 1.

There will be 5 session within that time peroid.

Each session will last about 40 to 50 minutes.

The classes are open to the general public and donations are welcomed at the door.
