St. Luke’s Named Top 15 Health Systems
Boise, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Truven Health Analytics Has named St. Luke’s Health System as one of the nation’s top 15 Health Systems.
This is the first year St. Luke’s has achieved this recognition, which is based on an evaluation of key performance and safety measures. St. Luke’s is the only Idaho health system included on the Top 15 list – a list that includes other notable health systems such as the Mayo Clinic and Advocate Health.
The Truven Health 15 Top Health Systems study evaluates performance in key performance eight areas: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, 30-day mortality rate, 30-day readmission rate, adherence to clinical standards of care (evidence-based core measures published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services), and HCAHPS patient survey score (part of a national initiative sponsored by the United States Department of Health and Human Services to measure the quality of care in hospitals). The study has been conducted annually for the past six years.
When St. Luke’s Health System CEO Dr. David C. Pate joined St. Luke’s in 2009, he set a goal for St. Luke’s to become a national quality leader by 2015.
“What is so exciting about this recognition is that this is reflective of the efforts we focus on across the system in improving the health of people in our region,” Pate said. “It’s also highly gratifying that this is a recognition of our entire health system and not just one hospital in the system.”
Pate credits the work and dedication of all St. Luke’s employees across the system in their commitment to standardize and implement evidence-based care, such as stroke care, sepsis protocols, and blood management.
Being named a Top 15 health system in the nation is a testament to the commitment of everyone at St. Luke’s who either cares directly for patients or supports those who do. I am so proud of the St. Luke’s team,” Pate said.
