St. Luke's Teams Up With Utah Insurance Program
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) St. Luke's announced that it will provide a new approach to health insurance in Idaho.
St. Luke's is teaming up with SelectHealth of Utah. In the current system, doctors get paid for doing surgeries and so on. But the new approach would reward doctors for keeping patients healthy, and keeping them out of the hospital. Dr. David Pate, CEO of St. Luke's Health System, says, "For the first time, we have got a viable solution to how to not only improve care. But to improve health, and truly lower health care costs." The SelectHealth Utah-based health plan will gradually move from a "pay for volume" model to one based on "pay for value." Pate says St. Luke's wants to lead this movement to provide affordable health care for our children and grandchildren. Sept. 5, 2012. Comments ( Most Viewed
