Gooding, Idaho (KMVT-TV) This Thursday the City of Gooding held a special State of the City Address and discussed a few items on the their to-do list.

Mayor Duke Morton opened up the meeting by discussing a few budget issues including the Police and Fire budgets for the year, along with that the city’s water budget.

Morton also discussed the reorganization of a few city positions including the city clerk and treasure, which for the past 30 years was occupied by a single individual and will now be two full time positions.

The city infrastructure was also a main topic.

Mayor Morton discussed both the ground water and surface water problems the city is facing.

Including pressure issues for fire hydrants and their aging irrigation system.

"I just want to make sure the citizens are informed about that we are doing and have a chance to feel that they are participating and understand the direction where were taking it. I think the city is growing and we'll continue to grow, so we need to make sure that we have the infrastructure that will support that." Said Mayor of Gooding Duke Morton.

After Thursdays meeting, Mayor Morton hopes to take all of the public input back to the city.

And with it, to better help facilitate any future moves the city has on the horizon.
