Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Suffering from the winter workout blues?

YMCA Health and Wellness Director Gilly Funk says staying active is worth the extra effort.

"It’s really important, too, because we just start getting busy and stressed, just with everything going on with holidays, that it’s more important than ever to make sure you're moving your bodies, staying active and eating healthy,” Funk explains.

Gym goer Molly Arrossa says the benefits of exercise reach far beyond her physique.

“Well, it makes me feel better. It gives me a better attitude. When I finish I just have more energy,” Arrossa says.

The holiday season can be stressful.

Taking a time out for the gym is a great way to make time for you.

And what better way to battle the cold than to get moving.

“There’s a lot of people that run still, too, out in the cold, skiing, snowboarding, sledding... that's a workout, too," Funk points out.

"Well, we play indoor tennis three days a week, and on the other days, I swim, so I try to stay active during the winter season," Arrossa says.

“So much here to offer to keep anyone active. We have over 150 fitness classes, between the pool and kids classes and all the stuff,” Funk explains.

Aside from indoor classes at your local gym, there are little exercises you can do on a day to day basis. Whether they are in a studio or in your own living room!

Squats... Pushups... Burpees... Mountain climbers... And planks...

Exercises that don't require equipment can easily be modified to fit your fitness level.

Whether it's 10 minutes in your living room or a full day on the slopes...

Now you have everything but excuses to keep active this holiday season!
