Staying Healthy During The Holiday Season

Burley, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Going into the Holiday Season, one of the big challenges is staying healthy and of course not gaining weight.

"I think one of the most important things is trying to lose weight during the holidays but it's pretty easy to maintain your weight if you just follow some simple tips. One would be to don't skip meals so that you go to a party where you are starving. You want to just be slightly hungry and then choose things you really want so you are getting foods that only come out this time of year," said Vanessa Foster, a Dietician at the Cassia Regional Medical Center.

Other tips during the Holiday Season include being realistic about weight loss. It is better to not try and lose pounds during the holidays but instead try to maintain your current weight.
You should also plan time for exercise. Exercise helps relieve holiday stress and prevent weight gain. And don’t skip meals. Before leaving for a party, eat a light snack like raw vegetables or a piece of fruit to curb your appetite. You will be less tempted to over-indulge.
