Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A dirt lot near the visitor’s center will be transformed into the Canyon Park West shopping center.

"I think it's going to bring a lot more shopping options for the community as a whole. We not only have the people of Twin Falls, but we have outlying communities that come in here and look for options for shopping. If you can look at the map and see the different stores, I think it is going to be a great asset for the city," said Renee Carraway with the Twin Fall’s Engineering Office.

A great asset for the city of Twin Falls and as part of the development will include several infrastructure upgrades.

"Right now you will see a lot of equipment out there. They are getting ready to do some infrastructure equipment which would include the redevelopment of Fillmore Street and the round about that will be right there by the Visitor's Center," said Renee Carraway.

According to plans the stores moving in include Kohl's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Men's Warehouse, Sports Authority and Petco. Several new restaurants are also expected to open like Starbucks, Noodles and Company and Chipotle.

We spoke with people across the Magic Valley and they are excited to get more shopping options here in Twin Falls.

"I think it's going to increase people coming in to shop. There's going to be a lot more options than just, I mean TJ Maxx is great but Ross is just as good and Dress Barn is another one of those good stores," said Sarah Poeslzl.

"Otherwise I have to drive to Boise for all of those stores, so it will be nice to have them here. Support our community rather than driving to Boise for those stores," said Jennifer Whipple.

Canyon Park West will also have room to expand in the future. The expected completion date is the spring of 2014.
