Summer Day Camp Programs in Magic Valley

For kids in the Magic Valley, summer means no school and more time for fun.

For parents, that often means looking for a safe environment for their kids to learn and play.

The YMCA is offering a chance for kids and adults to get what they want with summer day camp.

Summer day camp director Modesta Sackett explains, "we go into activities all day long like arts and crafts, Spanish, yoga. We're going to do some tennis lessons, we do free swim lessons."

Facility director at the E-street YMCA Donna Cleland notes, "They go to Harmon park each day for lunch, sometimes nature walks and sometimes activities... we keep them really busy."

Three major field trips and weekly themes are offered throughout the summer.

But it's not all about having fun.

Counselors at the “Y” encourage their campers to learn as much as possible.

Says Sackett, "we try to teach them honesty, respecting, caring, just the values the ‘Y’ stands for."

Cleland adds, "It's really important that we have a low ratio of campers to staff so each kid gets a lot of attention and we like to say while they are here, we watch each kid as if they're our own."
The camp runs until August 30th.

It is offered Monday thru Friday from 7 in the morning to 6 in the evening, ensuring a safe and happy summer.

Registration is ongoing for the camp. For more information, e-mail Modesta Sackett at
