Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) October is Domestic Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women...more than car accidents, muggings and rapes combined.

Females age sixteen to twenty–four are the highest risk group.

That's why Twin Falls High School Senior Hannah Meyerhoeffer is dedicating her senior project to raising awareness.

"I think people kind of over look things because we're younger, but it's a lot of words that are said and even physical things that people don't really notice, but it's definitely there," said Hannah Meyerhoeffer, Twin Falls High School Senior.

According to Domestic Violence Statistics, every nine seconds a woman is assaulted or beaten in the U.S.

Some risk factors include a verbally abusive partner or partners who are jealous or tightly controlling.
