Teaching Kids That Cooking Is Fun

Tools

By Jay Michaels

Paul, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Students at Paul Elementary School got a hands on cooking demonstration with their very own chef.

The United Dairymen of Idaho and the National Football League are sponsoring Fuel Up for 60. It's a program that encourages kids to eat healthy foods, and to get plenty of physical activity during their day.

Registered dietitian April Bruns says, "The main important part is that we're getting kids to eat a variety of foods, to eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and of course the dairy products, milk, cheese, and yogurt."

The chef was also at school to get kids interested in cooking, to show them it's fun, and that they can do it themselves. Bruns points out that the more colors of you have on your plate, the more nutrients you're eating.
