Jerome, Idaho (KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV) A teenager was taken to the hospital following an early morning crash on the interstate near Jerome.

Idaho State Police say 51- year old Martin Steele of Salt Lake was headed west in a semi tractor pulling two box trailers. Meanwhile, a 17-year old from Jerome was driving east in the westbound lanes.

The teen struck the semi head-on as Steele tried to avoid the collision.

Then he hit the first trailer on the semi truck stopped in the left lane.
The interstate was blocked for four hours this morning from milepost 165 to 157.

Steele was not injured, but the teen was sent to a nearby hospital.

The teenager is facing criminal charges and his name hasn’t been released.
