Teens And Distracted Driving; A Look At The Numbers
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Sunday marks National Teen Driver Safety Week. This year's theme is Drive by the Rules, Keep the Privileges.
Transportation experts believe immaturity, inexperience and distractions play major roles in deadly crashes. In 2010, distracted driving factored in 11% of fatal crashes involving drivers under 20 years old. Idaho Transportation Department statistics reveal that in 2011, there were more than 62–thousand licensed drivers between 15 and 19 years old.
