Temporary Speed Limit Change For Kimberly Road Near Chobani
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) – Drivers will see a new temporary traffic pattern and speed limit throughout the construction zone on U.S. 30 near the Chobani plant, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Crews are restriping the highway today to include a westbound center-turn bay and will post a 45-mph speed limit through the construction zone on Kimberly Road between Hankins Road and 3300 East Road. To accommodate the center-turn bay, the restriping will eliminate the shoulder in both directions.
The changes are allowed through an amendment to the construction permit granted by ITD and are in effect until additional turn bays are added. The permit requires construction of eastbound right-turn bays for both of the permanent entrances and widening to accommodate a center turn bay for westbound traffic. Construction is expected to take place in the spring of 2013.
Drivers are reminded to use extra caution through the construction zone and to follow the new speed limits and lane patterns. Drivers also should watch for increased traffic entering and exiting the highway.
