Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) There’s a new Deputy Fire Chief in Jerome. In a Tuesday press release, the City of Jerome announced that Jeremy Presnell has been appointed to the position. The job had been vacant since former Deputy Fire Chief Tom Hughes became the Fire Chief.

Deputy Presnell has been with the Jerome Fire Department since September 2008. At the moment, he is the most senior fire officer in the department below the Chief, and he has worked in the deputy chief capacity on and off when the Deputy position was unfilled in 2012 and 2013. Presnell got training and experience before joining the Jerome Fire Department when he served as a firefighter in the United States Air Force.

Presnell is a Magic Valley native who grew up in Glenns Ferry and graduated from Glenns Ferry High School. After he finished serving in the United States Air Force, he came back to the Magic Valley. He is currently finishing his Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration and lives in Jerome with his wife and son.

Fire Chief Hughes says, “Jeremy is a great asset to the department. His experience serving in Jerome and in the military makes our team stronger. We are excited to have such a hardworking, community minded and well respected individual serve in this position”.
