The Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program
Buhl, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A young women's talent show is back Thursday and shows no signs of slowing down.
The Distinguished Young Women Program started in 1957, known then as America's Junior Miss. It was a very popular pageant here in Magic Valley until the late 80’s, when it stopped for 20 years. Kristina Nye brought the program back 5 years ago in order to help showcase young women in southern idaho. 12 girls competed Thursday in several categories, including fitness, self expression, talent, scholastic and interview. 5 years ago the winners divided up around $2,000 in winnings and this year it’s around $10,000. The winner has the opportunity to represent Idaho at the National Finals held in Mobile, Alabama. Comments ( Most Viewed
