By Andrew Reed

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Parents do you eat dinner with your family around the table every day?

According to a release at Columbia University.

Teens who have frequent family dinners five to seven times per week are more likely to report having excellent relationships with their parents.

Compared to teens who have infrequent family dinners fewer than three times per week.

"So it starts to kind of communicate that there is a value in this since of family that we have. It also give us the opportunity to check in and say how was your day, what where you doing, who where you with” said Dr. Ted Gardner.

Teens who have frequent family dinners are more likely to say that their parents know a lot about what's really going on in their lives, and such parental knowledge is associated with decreased incidence of teen substance use.
