Ketchum, Idaho - ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Ketchum’s public transportation is getting a serious upgrade this fall. Mountain Rides is finalizing bids and approvals before breaking ground on a new transportation hub in downtown Ketchum.
Mountain Rides provides the public transportation for all of Blaine County. They also provide commuter van pools connecting to Twin Falls and Shoshone. Now, they are expanding their presence at the intersection of Sun Valley Road and East Avenue. The plan includes new bus pullouts, passenger waiting areas, crosswalks, and improved signage.
“As we’ve grown, we’ve needed a spot in downtown Ketchum where visitors, locals, can go and easily catch the bus wherever then might need to go,” said Jason Miller, Executive Director of Mountain Rides.
Mountain Rides is working with Ketchum’s Art Commission on defining the new spaces in creative ways. The four corners of the intersection are going to be themed after the different elements; water, air, mountains, and sun.
They are hoping to have the project completed by this winter. For more information, go to http://mountainrides.org/.
