Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) A national restaurant chain is joining the push to urge drivers not to text and drive.

A famous subway spokesperson was in twin falls raising awareness about the issue.
'The Subway Guy' wasn't speaking about sandwiches to canyon ridge high school students, rather the dangers of using your phone while behind the wheel.

"Essentially it's an awareness campaign really aimed at younger drivers, but also adults in general about the importance of not being distractive while you're driving, especially text messaging while you're driving” said Jared Fogle, Subway Spokesperson.

Wait to text is a subway national campaign, the goal is to get students to never text while driving, so innocent lives aren't affected.

"I have a little sister and I'm going to college soon and she is going to be driving and I don't want her to text and driving, Jared basically said that” said Veronica Fustos, 12th Grade Student.

Fogle a parent himself, is speaking nationwide with high school students because, there are many statistics that he wants to change.

"The one that jumps out at me is they're 23-times more likely to be in a car wreck than if you're not distracted” said Fogle.

A sandwich company that isn't just focusing on health but also on safety.
Subway gave thumb bands to students to remind them to put down their phones when they're behind the wheel.
