Theatres Proved Popular In Early Twin Falls
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The City of Twin Falls had a surprising number of theatres in its early days.
Downtown on Main Avenue, only the Orpheum remains from three movie theatres that were built right next to each other. The other two movie houses were the Roxy and the Idaho Theatres.
Youth Services Supervisor Erica Littlefield says, "There were movie theatres, the more traditional theatres that did vaudeville, plays, and also music concerts. Pretty much as soon as Twin Falls was established, there were theatres established too, which was interesting."
Littlefield says a series of concerts and plays were put on in the Twin Falls City Park. In fact, the library has ticket stubs for Twin Falls photographer Clarence Bisbee and his wife Jessie.
Littlefield says the current Blacker's building was once a theatre with a furniture store next door.
