Time To Shave Those Deputies' Beards And Goatees Off
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Since October, Twin Falls County Sheriff's Deputies have been growing their beards for a good cause.
It's all a part of an effort to raise money for a local cancer patient. Men had to donate $20 to grow a goatee, or $30 for a beard. And ladies could wear a pink breast cancer awareness pin, or a pink hat.
Kent Oliver, Bailiff for the Twin Falls County Sheriff, says, "I just retired from a 27 year career with the Idaho State Police, and had five years law enforcement with Twin Falls County prior to that. So I've had to shave for 32 years, and this was an opportunity for me to allow that facial hair to grow."
But the beard growing contest is officially over January 31st. So all of the deputies will have to come to work clean shaven on the first of February. They've managed to raise $700 to benefit a boy from Dietrich who has leukemia.
