By Joey Martin

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Officers with the Twin Falls Police Department set down their handcuffs and picked up serving treys this Wednesday.

All in the efforts for the 16th annual Tip–A–Cop fundraiser.

Every year agencies from all over the Magic Valley raise money in support of Special Olympics' Idaho.

On Wednesday Twin Falls Officers were over at Perkins restaurant waiting tables for tips.

On average the officers bring in close to $8,000.

Along with the tips a silent auction was also set up with prizes donated by business from all over the valley.

"We've seen a steady group of people. We've had a lot of new people come in but we've seen a lot of faces that have been coming as long as we've been doing it. And it's just great to see such a supportive community and a good turnout."
Said Twin Falls Police Department community Service Officer Jennifer Westendorf.

Along with the Tip–A–Cop fundraiser the Twin Falls Police Department will be holding a torch run this weekend.

The run will take place this Saturday at the Twin Falls City Park.

The event will kick off at 9 am with a 5k run following immediately afterwards.
