Tourism Sees A Big Boost This Summer
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Southern Idaho is a tourism hot spot for many people across the country.
This year Southern Idaho tourism says that this summer was one of the best.
Lodging in the region was up 15% from just last summer.
Those figures came in the summer months, ending in late June.
But also over the months of July and August the numbers were still over last years at about 2%.
Debbie Dane from Southern Idaho Tourism says there are a few factors that attribute to the increased number of tourist visiting the area.
“Tourism runs on discretionary income so I think people are feeling better about the economy. There are a lot of things to see and do here… which range from really adventurous to things like walking along the canyon. There’s just a variety of things to see and do.”
Said Debbie Dane from Southern Idaho Tourism
Dane says that next year’s numbers look to hopefully be even better than this year.
And with more and more business looking to move into southern Idaho.
That means more hotels and restaurants for tourist to take advantage of… Meaning that as tourism grows, so will the economy of southern Idaho.
