Turkey Tags Down In Southern Idaho

By Andrew Reed

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Wild turkey hunting season is just around the corner.

This year the Idaho Department of Fish and Game are giving out 62 tags for the south hills area.

That’s down from last year, they distributed 78.

The reason is pervious fires.

"With the fire coming through it burned down a lot of the roost trees. With the loss of those trees it distributed the birds in a wider area and our production is really way down,” said Kelton Hatch, Idaho Fish and Game.

The turkey hunt season begins April 15th.
