Twin Falls Airport Manager On Control Tower Bill
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Both the U.S. Senate and House passed a bill last week ending air traffic controller furloughs.
Controllers had to take off unpaid days because of federal forced spending cuts. The measure now goes to President Obama for his signature.
It gives the Department of Transportation flexibility in dealing with the forced budget cuts. It would also let authorities protect about 150 control towers slated for closure. We spoke with Magic Valley Regional Airport Manager Bill Carberry on the news.
"We're hoping those furloughs will come to an end as well as the threat of closing contract towers around the state," adds Carberry.
The Twin Falls tower is still on the long–term closure list.
Carberry hopes the FAA will reevaluate that
