Twin Falls Bomb Squad Called To Disable Explosive Device Found In Blaine County Mailbox

Hailey, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - The Blaine County Sheriff’s office say they were called to a neighborhood yesterday afternoon to investigate a suspicious explosive device in a mailbox. Authorities say that at about 4:30 pm on Wednesday they were sent to an address at Hyndeman View Drive between Ketchum and Hailey. A caretaker for the East Fork residence notified authorities. When they arrived, the Sheriff’s office secured the scene and established a safety perimeter. By 8pm the Twin Falls bomb Squad arrived. They were able to neutralize the device and determined that it was an improvised explosive device. Authorities say the device contained projectiles which could have increased the destructive force of an explosion.
In a news release, the sheriff’s office is asking that if anyone sees any suspicious items or activity to call 911 immediately. They are also asking for your help concerning this particular incident. If you know anything about the incident, you are asked to call 208-788-5555.

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office has notified other local Law Enforcement agencies of the incident and has reached out to Federal authorities for collaborative assistance. Sheriff Gene D. Ramsey, stated, “Without jeopardizing the investigation, we want the public to know that this was not a pressure style cooking device. This case is under investigation and will be a priority until the person or persons responsible are identified and apprehended.“ No one was injured and there are no suspects at this time.
