Twin Falls City Approve Transparency Resolution
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - During Monday nights city council meeting in Twin Falls, members of the council approved a resolution to expand city government transparency. The resolution calls for all work groups organized by the council and it’s commissions to be announced and open to the public and to be recorded through written meeting minutes.
The Council said the discussion over government transparency was important to the citizens of Twin Falls and to the integrity of local government. The discussion began in mid-November after concerns were raised about City work groups that were not required by state law to operate under open meeting laws. Two resolutions, including one that was amended, were brought to the Council for discussion.
The City suspended work group activity to allow for the Council to reach a decision on the resolution. Now that the transparency resolution has been adopted, the Council and City staff will move forward with reorganizing work groups to meet the resolution’s requirements. This conversation will take place during the Dec. 9 regular City Council meeting.
