Twin Falls County Fair Serves Up Alcohol For The Second Year
Filer, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Last year was the first year the Twin Falls County Fair started serving beer and wine.
The beer garden is set up, the drinks are cold, and here goes round two.
"I don't have a problem with it as long as people behave themselves, because I have 100% confidence in my staff. These guys are good at it” said Sheriff Tom Carter, Twin Falls County.
2011 marked the first time in the fairs history that patrons were able to purchase alcohol .
Last year there were no major issues.
"It seems like when you have a problem so far it's the people bringing it in with them” said Sheriff Tom Carter, Twin Falls County.
Some citizens disagree with alcohol sales while others are for it.
"I think the fair is a family event and I don't really think alcohol has a place here at the fair” Nancy Staley, Fairgoer.
"I think it should be a little, I mean you can't leave this spot here and they stick you back in the corner if we are going to be offensive, I think it's kind of silly” Maryland Willimott, Fairgoer.
"I think it's okay as long as people are responsible the parents are responsible to watch their kids. They have plenty of security around that should take care of it” said Cindy Meller, Fairgoer.
The fair does require you to drink in a designated area while there are no limits on how much you can drink.
If you get out of hand you will be cut off.
"Probably way more people get escorted off the property than they do go to jail” said Sheriff Tom Carter, Twin Falls County.
