Twin Falls Hosts First Full Marathon

By Michelle Bartlome

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Runners completed the first–ever full marathon in Twin Falls.

The Canyon Rim Marathon took place Saturday morning. On a cold and windy day, racers tackled 26.2 miles.

The race route began and ended at the Visitor's Center parking lot by the Perrine Bridge.

It included trails on the canyon rim through Dierkes Lake, along with road running.

After a year of preparation, the YMCA of Twin Falls staff were excited the day had arrived.

Ben Harman, YMCA of Twin Falls says, "I'm excited to see all of the runners arriving and ready to run. I'm sure they would have liked it to be a little warmer, but it might be good that it's not so hot."

The proceeds will be used to build youth programs and scholarships in the Magic Valley.
