Twin Falls Iraq War veteran pleads not guilty to harassment
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) _ An Iraq War veteran charged with threatening
a Muslim woman in December has pleaded not guilty. Forty-two-year-old John C. Larsen is charged with felony malicious harassment in 5th District Court Monday. Police say Larsen approached the woman who was wearing a traditional Muslim head covering in the Twin Falls Wal-Mart last December and asked if she was Muslim. When she said yes, police say Larsen screamed at her. Police say Larsen told the woman he had a concealed weapon, had killed Muslims before and would kill more. Investigators also reported finding a loaded firearm in his vehicle. The Times-News reports Larsen claims he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. He faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. A jury trial is set for April 19. Comments ( |
