Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Twin Falls Public Library dedicated a brand new "Giving Tree" in their lobby this afternoon.

Local artist Gus Flowers built the original Giving Tree 21 years ago. But since all of the leaves were filled up with names of donors, the Library Foundation asked him to build a new one.

Flowers hammered the trunk out of a copper pipe the same thickness as the metal in the Statue of Liberty. His daughter Cindy fashioned the individual leaves out of brass.

Flowers says, "My daughter on the first tree quoted Mr. Sagan when she said there are billions and billions. This one has about a thousand leaves on it, a little bit more than that. We lost count, it's real hard to count them."

In 21 years, the first Giving Tree raised $210,000 for the Twin Falls Public Library. A Library Foundation spokesman says so far the new tree has raised about $12,000. But there's enough room on the leaves to raise about $200,000 more dollars.
