Twin Falls Police Remind Citizens to Stay Safe this HalloweenTwin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Twin Falls Police Department would like to remind everyone to enjoy a safe Halloween by planning ahead and exercising caution. Children should always be accompanied by a responsible adult. More than one adult should accompany any large group of children of five or more. Plan a safe route so parents know where older kids will be at all times. Set a time for their return home and make sure that children are old enough and responsible enough to go out by themselves. Make sure that they have a cell phone. Children should not walk through back alleys and fields if they are alone. Make sure they know to stay in populated areas with good lighting. Parents should explain to children the dangers of being alone. Children should never go into the home of a stranger or get into a stranger’s car. Make sure children carry flashlights, glow sticks or reflective tape on their costume to make them more visible to drivers. Whether you are planning to attend a party, trick or treat or simply stay home, please keep the following in mind: TIPS FOR PARENTS: An adult should accompany young children of any age. If you decide to allow your children to travel without you, make sure they know how to reach you. Although tampering is rare, inspect all candy before allowing your children to eat anything. TIPS FOR HOMEOWNERS: Make sure your yard is clear of debris or obstructions. Keep candle-lit pumpkins away from areas where trick-or-treaters will walk. Consider healthy foods alternatives for trick-or-treaters. TIPS FOR DRIVERS: Watch for children all night and drive slow through neighborhoods.
Bring a designated driver with you if you plan to attend a Halloween party.
