Twin Falls Senior Citizen Center Better than Ever

Tools

By Brandon Redmond

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Jeanette Roe took over as the director of the Twin Falls Senior Citizen Center in February. She is very passionate about bringing life back to a center that in the past was close to shutting its doors.

"We wanted to turn this into a positive place for people to come that they would thoroughly enjoy it and its working."

Since Roe started, shes added activities like jazzercise and weekly dances to the schedule. Roe's first priority was to ensure the center's financial stability so that the center can continue to serve the community.

"Things are much better. We are actually in the black for the first time. I have gotten all of the old bills taken care of,” Roe told us.

During National Senior Citizen Month, one of the things that the Twin Falls Senior Citizen Center is trying to do is increase the awareness of their meals program. They serve meals everyday Monday through Friday for lunch and also deliver meals to those who are homebound.

Shaun Williams was hired as the head chef earlier this year. Williams loves dishing up home cooked meals and is working to promote the center's lunch program."We basically do a lot of home style cooking and stuff like that here, not a lot of fancy, cost extra money for that kind of stuff, but we do a wide variety of things. We run a fresh soup everyday, a salad bar and then we have our entree."

A center once in danger of closing is now offering more activities than you can imagine. You can visit www.TFSeniorCenter.com for the weekly menu and activity schedule.
