UPDATED INFORMATION Lightning-Caused Fires Burning In Southern Twin Falls County

UPDATE 9:40PM NEWS RELEASE FROM THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT: SHOSHONE – Tonight around 7:00 p.m. there were multiple fires reported to South Central Idaho Interagency Dispatch Center. Reports continued to come in throughout the evening with lightning as the cause of all these fires. Multiple resources are on scene or reporting to fires around the district. East Hollister East Hollister is the largest fire at this time, estimated at approximately 500 acres with containment set for 10:00 a.m. tomorrow and control set for tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. There are 6 engines, 2 dozers, 1 air attack, 1 lead plane, 3 single engine air tankers, and 1 helicopter on scene. BLM is also being supported by the Filer, Salmon Tract, and Rock Creek Rural Fire Departments. All resources are working together to get a handle on the flames. There have been no structures reported threatened at this time, although the fire is burning towards some agriculture fields. Oakley Reservoir The Oakley Reservoir fire is estimated at 12 acres with 3 BLM engines, 1 single engine air tanker and the Oakley Rural Fire Department on scene. A contain time has been set for 11:00 p.m. tonight with a control set for 10:00 p.m. tomorrow. Hannah’s Fork Hannah’s Fork, approximately 5 miles north of the border and 16 miles east of Highway 93 is estimated at 50 acres with a containment set for tonight at 11:00 p.m. and control set for midnight. There is one engine on scene. The fire is on private land, but is threatening state land. IA #10 A fire was just reported at 9:00 p.m. off I-84, east of Heyburn. Resources are being dispatched to the fire. UPDATE: 9:07PM. U.S. Highway 93 traffic near the fire has been diverted using 2900 North. If you don't need to be in the area, please avoid it. Several fire departments and the BLM are on the scene. Scanner traffic indicates that the winds continue to shift, causing additional problems for firefighters to gain the upper hand. At this time, KMVT news does not have any reports of any buildings that have burned. Also, we do not know of any injuries. PHOTOS FROM THE FIRE HAVE NOW BEEN UPLOADED TO THIS STORY.

Southern Twin Falls County, Idaho (KMVT-TV) According to SIRCOMM dispatchers, there are two fires burning in the southern part of the county. Lightning is being blamed as the cause. According to Heather Tiel-Nelson of the Twin Falls District BLM, the Hollister Fire has burned about 200 acres this evening as of 7:30 p.m. The fire is on both sides of Highway 93. She says it's headed towards some ag fields. The other fire is located in the Shoshone Basin. BLM crews are en route to that fire. We have crews headed to these fires. Stay with us.
