Two In Critical Condition Following Officer-Involved Shooting
Bliss, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A car chase beginning in Mountain Home around 2:30 Sunday morning ends in Bliss with two people shot.
The Mountain Home Police Department stopped a car for no headlights, but the driver took off eastbound on Interstate-84.
The car was proceeding down the interstate without its lights once again. According to Gooding County Sheriff Shaun Gough, deputies got involved and stopped the car at the Y Inn Motel in Bliss.
Gough says the male passenger got out of the car with his hands in the air based on the deputies' commands, but the female driver, for unknown reasons, shot the passenger.
After pointing the gun at law enforcement, a deputy shot the driver. Based on standard procedure, that deputy has been placed on administrative leave.
Both occupants of the vehicle were air-lifted to St. Alphonsus in Boise. They are listed in critical condition.
No deputies were injured in the incident. According to Gough, the car has a Colorado license plate.
